Incidentally this latter alteration appreciably upsets the output curve and more so than would be desirable on production. The only thing we have arrived at on the question of dynamo noise/is that the tightness of the bearings appears to affect it, even though it goes on and off with the charging switch. In two cases we have had dynamos which were noisy and in which the bearings have been slightly tight; and in one case (so far) the noise has been considerably reduced when the bearings have been eased.

EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} has reported that in one case so far in which he has tried the dynamo fitted with a cast iron end bracket, the noise has been considerably reduced. He is asking for this to be tried on further cases of noisy dynamos in his possession.
