| Mx. {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 6/N.24.1.39. Re: 27.G.VI. This car is now running mileage with parts which are proposed for 'C' or future series, as detailed in Mx. {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 10/N.21.11.38. Mileage since above parts fitted - 1,832. Mileage prior to modifications - 21,794. Car is running well and at the moment there is little to report. The new type exhaust system deleting the front expansion box was not fitted when the car was put into commission some days ago, as we wished to make a direct comparison with the present standard system. The new system is being fitted today. It is not proposed to use this system on 'C' series. Radiator mounting to S.CD.659. Cheaper method of fixing. This is not a success owing to increased amount of front end movement of wings, lamps, and radiator. This is not instructed for 'C' series. There is an improvement in the ride and controllability with lower rating front springs and roll rod. The hydraulic damper for brake mechanism is a marked improvement.
