W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Experimental Department, Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, With further reference to your crank pin oiler troubles, I have just received a letter from Heron on the matter and attach a verbatim copy of his remarks together with a pencil sketch which he also sent me. I do not know whether his scheme can be incorporated in your present crank shafts without major modifications, but it may be that this information will give you another idea in order that you may be able to make a modification along your own lines. He agrees with me that anodic treatment may be helpful in this matter. If you have any further suggestions, or points upon which we can give information, please do not hesitate to write me. With kind regards, Yours sincerely, F.R.Banks. [Handwritten note] By We have had trouble with Corrosion of the oilers on Bentleys.
