-2- no definate crankshaft periods. The engine gear rattles has got no worse and would not be considered a fault. IGNITION PLUGS SPECIAL K.I. K.L.G. 629 NON CORROSIVE. The plugs started to misfire and became worse at approx. 9,700. The centre electrode had burnt and become very small considerable and showed definate signs of pre-ignition. they were taken out and a set of standard K.I. K.L.G. plugs fitted. These up to the present mileage have not misfired and the electrode do not show any burning to have as yet taken place. We get firing taking place after the engine has been switched off when the car is stopped. INLET PIPE TO L.O.F. E 54373 The inlet pipe is in good condition. CARBURETTER TO L.O.F. E 54492. INCORPORATING: Breather air pipe. Intake modified to EX 4547 to cure oil leaks from crankcase. Modified high speed choke tube to V 625. Low speed choke tube to V.710 Suction chamber spring to V 711 Larger ports in air valve to V 631 Aluminium piston to EX 4501 The carburetter throttle is inclined to stick at times. There is a whistle from the carburetter which at time is heard plainly in the drivers seat. The metering seems to be O.K. We have not had any signs of building up. The air valve has not given any trouble during the remainder of the run. STARTER MOTOR STANDARD. This has given no trouble thoughout the mileage. IGNITION COIL L.I.7 WOUND ON TUBE, WITH PARALLEL SECONDARY WINDING. DISTRIBUTOR WITH MODIFIED CONTACT POINT ARM. There has been no sign of Coil failure. The contacts show slight sign of burning and pitting. Rotor and cam are O.K. GENERATOR. DYNAMO WITH 48 COIL ARMATURE FITTED WITH BAKELAQUE INSULATION The dynamo out put is still O.K. there is no sign of burning of the comutator, brushes are free in the guides, its remain quiet. H.T. CABLES These are now in a very poor condition. The lead from the magneto has had to be covered with insulation tape to stop the current from earthing. WATFORD R.W.I. MAGNETO N° 120.265 Misfires are prevailant when magneto is in use detonations are considerably worse. It is standard for noise Contact points are in good conditions. WATER PUMP TO L.O.F. E 54728 A slight leak of water from the gland started again at 9,500 miles the spring controling the gland packing seems on the weak side .../... | ||
