Unit Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (c) Oil consumption and "blow by" for 1 hr. at 4000 r.p.m, if consumption in excess of 2.5 pts/hr. repeat (Oil press. 35 - 40 lbs/sq.in. at 100°C. inlet. It will be noted that higher pressure is quoted than previous units and relief valve main spring should be EB.30329. (d) Detonation and ignition advance tests under conditions - (a) Exhaust silencer as in (1) (b) Redline fuel. (c) Weakest maintained max. power mixture. (d) With Air Silencer. Governor characteristic should conform with non detonation at T.D.C. setting. (e) Metering tests etc. under instructions by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/OTS. also whether sufficient flow in carburetter under chassis conditions to maintain full power at high speeds. (f) If possible obtain final power figure with all chassis fitment including, fan, chassis silencer, air silencer, fixed governor at T.D.C. setting i.e. (no hand control) dynamo charging etc. (g) With Studebaker damper check crank oscillations (h) Water and oil leaks to be cured and note timing gears are O.K. for rattle and whine. (i) Remove dynamo meter coupling and set idling with normal .010 tappet clearance. Note that unit is clear of overoiling when opening up after idling. B.80 No.4. Unit. Will be returned to beds will be fitted with EB.4512 camshaft. | ||
