Continue as per above memo. until B.80 No.1 unit is ready whence it should be returned to shop for jobs in accordance with our memo. to HPS. {Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} B.80 No.1 Unit. Unit now fitted with short duration camshaft EB.4512 for camshaft tests as previously carried out on this unit with the long duration shaft EB.4105. B.80 No.6. Unit. New unit allotted for "Cresta" (4.B.50) Includes the following special features - (1) EX.33975 camshaft as removed from No.4. unit in view of its improved idling. Should be ensured that it is timed on previously found best position. (2) 2 3/4 journal crank in .4 carbon with W/M Vandervell bearings to suit. (3) Studebaker type damper. (4) Wraith type split skirt pistons. (5) Modified double valve springs with alum sealing discs in top spring washers (if available). After running in following tests to be carried out - (a) Power curve open exhaust and with silencer (chassis type on which we have figures). (b) Valve bounce on inlet valves also with silencer. | ||
