-2- On the other hand, we are not doing high speed tests, but are only touring. The Rolls-Royce Firm do all their high speed tests on Brooklands track, in England. As for the example given, that we often leave Châteauroux in the morning to go to Boulogne, and are back in Châteauroux the same evening, anybody with common sense will realise that this is impossible, the distance between Boulogne and Châteauroux being 500 kilometres. I do not think that the indignation manifested by the writer of the letter is justified. Perhaps he does not know that Rolls-Royce have a Depot at Sèvres (Seine & Oise), and, in my opinion, they pay sufficient taxes of all sorts, thereby paying their share for the upkeep of the roads, to have the right of using the roads same as French motorists do. I do not think we damage the roads very much, because, as I have said before, we never drive at excessive speeds, and our cars are never overloaded; they are purely and simply touring cars. I think I can safely say that the Engineer of the Roads is of my opinion in this respect. Veuillez agréer,...... | ||
