RIVETLESS BONNETS.

We thank you for HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LID{A. J. Lidsey}2/AD31831., which makes the question of the shutter symmetry quite clear.

We are interested to hear that you have made a portion of a bonnet hinge to our N. sch. 3304., and we should not have criticised your remarks on its unsuitability had we have been aware that any tests had been made. We would like to see the test piece the next time anyone is coming to WW.

We are particularly interested in the merits or failings of this scheme, as it is used by Armstrongs, and as we have already pointed out is also being used by Hooper's on our cars at the Paris Salon.

We are interested to note that Sales have agreed to countersunk rivets on the face of the bonnet panel even though the paint may crack. This is the first we have heard of that agreement.

We thank BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} for BY8/G1931. which makes it more or less clear that the report stating that the rivetless bonnet to N. scheme 3292., which you are proceeding with, has not the serious disadvantages which a previous report stated it might have, now that bonnets are not fitted up to suit individual chassis.
