In addition to the various materials contained in our previous memo dated 11.8.38, we have produced 6 sand cast liners (Mark A100) to the specification suggested by Mr. West of Leyland on his recent visit, as the best material for sand cast Cylinder Blocks from a bore wear, corosion resisting point of view. This material conforms with the liner Mark A101 excepting that the Nickel content is raised to 2.5% and the Silicon reduced slightly to maintain a balance of the elements. We would be glad to have a record of the brinell hardness of each of each of the various materials to assist in ascertaining the range of machineability of each particular alloy. RHC{R. H.
