1124? Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}5/MH.{M. Huckerby} 9th. September 1938. Messrs. Richard Klinger Ltd., Klingerit Works, Sidcup, KENT. Dear Sirs, We recently ordered some small washers .500 outside dia., .312 inside diameter, and .062 thick in your normal Klingerit material, order no. 67775. These have been fairly successful, but running in oil they tend to get a bit mushy and if removed from the recess in which they are housed, come away in flakes and not as a solid job, also there is slight corrosion on the steel face next to the washer. None of these troubles are particularly serious but we wonder if you have an alternative material which would be better in the respects mentioned. Enclosed is the arrangement drawing showing the way in which the washer is fitted and await your reply before ordering any more. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
