6.B.1V.

This car is a marked improvement over any Bentley we have previously turned out with regard to steering, smoothness and suspension.

The following faults were noted:-

(1) The clutch thrust race is extremely noisy.

(2) The engine mounting allows the engine to jump about in the frame when the clutch is engaged on reverse.

(3) The engine does not start with the facility one would expect at low speeds. It appears to us the ring and piston combination fitted may contribute to this result.
Matthews should be approached on this subject to carry out cold chamber tests.

(4) The idling of this engine does not always seem to be consistent.

We should like you to co-operate with Whyman to eliminate the engine movement when the clutch is engaged, because this is the only objection we have to this engine mounting, which in every other respect is far superior to present standard.
