Below is a copy of H1/TB/19.10.25. Kindly let me know whether you consider anything can be done to deal with this matter on the lines suggested. B.J. COPY OF MEMORANDUM H1/TB19.10.25. Re Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/LG9.10.25, and especially Carburetter Control. As I believe the wider bonnet mentioned by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has come on to W series, and that in consequence there will be less risk of bending the carburetter lever than with V series, it is probably not necessary at the moment to make any alteration with present production. To obviate, however, the trouble of bent levers which would be serious on V series, I do think that W. should be prepared with some cure which can be fitted to get over the trouble when found. One method, and perhaps the neatest, would be to put a more rapid thread on the high speed jet spindle and use a shorter lever. Another method would be to shift the bonnet lock several inches right or left; and a third, but less sightly method, would be to fit a small bracket projecting from the carburetter casting, to act as a fender to the bonnet lock when the bonnet is being raised. I think our Repair Department ought to be ready with some such device for V series. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} | ||
