Expl. Report. -4- EFC4/T27.1.26 We are not putting one of the Simms magnetos on a car at present, i.e. not before further consideration of the reduction of contact breaker noise. EFC. Later. 30.1.26. The second Lucas magneto with specially silent contact breaker has now been tried on a car with very satisfactory results. For the time being the two Lucas machines have been returned to the makers, as it has been arranged by their Dr. Turner to send further magnetos with slightly larger magnets, larger distributor, and still further modifications to the contact breaker. The idea of these modifications is to make the machine finally completely satisfactory to our requirements, and there seems good reason to suppose that such machines will be thus satisfactory, and should do very well on the chassis tests.
