RE. LIGHTENED PHANTOM ENGINE. X. 8840 X. 8870

In reply to your BY3/H3.6.26., we regret that the
remaining schemes for the lightened Phantom engine have hung
fire somewhat, but we have been concentrating every available
effort on aero engine work.

We will however very shortly now let you have further
information regarding this matter. The main thing was to
get the cyl. head and block moving and apply it in the quickest
possible way to the standard engine.

Regarding the exhaust and induction pipe systems on
LeC. 2229 these were intended for detailing, and we have not
made any alteration except now you will require to increase
the height of the induction pipe uptake by .5" to suit the
taller cyl. block.

You will notice on this design that we have omitted
the petrol drainage pipes on the induction manifold. Before
the patterns are put through if possible we should like Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
opinion as to whether we can dispense with these fittings without
experiencing any detrimental effect.
