Campbell thought the idling speed too fast on the engine - it is at present set about 750 R.P.M. - as the slight clutch drag makes it difficult to engage gear at that speed. It also does not assist in retarding from high speeds. I promised we would set this down to about 500 R.P.M. when we made the final engine run before the car is despatched.

Arrangements for fuel, oil, and spark plug supplies have already been put in hand.

For full throttle runs we are definitely going to insist on the oil being heated to about 60°C. before being put in the tank. Although there is no definite oil cooling arrangements the runs will be of comparatively short duration and the nine galls. of oil in the system will not have time to be heated above a safe working temperature. We could always recharge with fresh oil if necessary at the end of a run and arrangements will be made so that this can be done, if required.
