To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 43-KR. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E4.10.29 As arranged with you in the train yesterday morning, I have instructed Kennett to come straight up to Derby with 43-KR as soon as he has taken me to Victoria this morning so that you can introduce what I will refer to as the "American spring and shock absorber modifications" with a view to trial as to the extent of improvement obtained thereby. As the Inspection Dept. here principally deal with springing complaints, I think it is important that they should know exactly the characteristics of my car, and I am, therefore, arranging for one of them to travel up part of the way in the car and then on the return journey we will arrange for the same individual to be picked up at the same point and brought back over the same roads. I will form my own opinions later, but for one or two urgent complaints which the department in question have in hand I want them to know exactly what it is that we may be able to do. You mentioned that you thought the car could be ready by Wednesday, but as I am coming back from Paris on that day I think it will be best if we leave it with you till Thursday, which will give you more time, and I have asked Kennett to try to arrange with you so that he can come up to fetch it on Thursday morning.
