COPY. St.Mawes, Cliftonville, Northampton. 23.6.33. Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd. 14, Conduit Street, W.1. Attention Major Cox. Gentlemen, Thank you very much indeed for your kindness in placing your latest Phantom II Continental chassis No.20-MY at my disposal for a trial run. I am particularly grateful to you for permitting me to take the car to Swansea, as it enabled me to carry out a really extensive test. Comparing it with my present car chassis No. 31-GX, I must say that I was very disappointed with the comparative figures. As a matter of interest I give below the comparative figures. In my opinion, the difference is due to the lower weight, lower rear axle ratio and less wind resistance of 31-GX. 20-MY 31-GX 10-30 m.p.h. on top gear 8 4/5th secs 6 3/5ths secs 10-60 " " " 25 " 20 " 10-80 " " " 43 " 38 " 10-30 in 3rd gear 5½ " 4 " 10-60 " " 18½ " 16 " Rear axle ratio 3.41 to 1 3.72 to 1 Weight unladen 49 cwts 46 cwts.
