S/W. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} x7/100 Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}5/KW27.6.33. Attached is copy of a very interesting letter from Mr.Sears, who owns 31-GX one of our late Trials Cars. I believe you know Mr.Sears pretty well at W, and I think you will agree he knows what he is talking about. I have acknowledged his letter and referred briefly to one or two of his criticisms. If, however, you can give me any further interesting facts or interesting replies to his criticisms about steering, the brakes, the road shocks on the brake and clutch pedals and other points which he criticises I should naturally be glad to have your views. The answer to his remarks about acceleration and his figures, of course, is obvious in view of the higher ratio and greater weight of our car compared with his. I think he understands that. At the same time he is no doubt somewhat disappointed to know that any new car he might purchase is not as fast as his is from 10-60 m.p.h. unless he has a very light body. He however criticised the light body to me the other day and finds it too light for the job and had to have a lot of extra work done to it to strengthen it up. In spite of that,of course, and the fact that he has made it heavier by so doing, the car is still appreciably faster than ours off the mark. Enc. Copy of letter from Mr.S.E.Sears dated 23.6.33.
