To ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy. c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X3806 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gyl/LG20.3.29. With reference to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}17/MGL3.3.29. We have given Motorine 'C' an extensive trial and while it may answer the purpose in very cold weather, we are entirely in agreement with Luvax and Mr. Bijur that a heavier bodied oil is required. We think that the heaviest body oil that will maintain its mobility at a low temperature is the standard of oil which we should look for. For this reason we are now trying Castrol 'R' which remains mobile up to -10°C. We hope to be able to recommend this oil for all the year round but in common with Springfield will classify a list of oils which we think suitable for Central Lubrication.
