BROOKLANDS - 23rd. Aug. 1923. RADIATOR TESTS - 6-GOSHAWK-11. Wednesday. Tests carried out with the small radiator and cowl. Atmospheric conditions hot. No marked improvement was obtained with the cowl. The water boiled freely in every case after about 6 mins. running all out. Radiator changed Wed. evening. Thursday. Larger radiator tests with shutters on and off, Undershield off and Bonnet Shutters open. No perceptible improvement was noticed with shutters or undershield off, possibly owing to the varying atmospheric conditions, it being sunny in the early morning and cold and showery during the afternoon. A marked difference was observed with fan belt loose and tight, also increased cooling with bonnet shutters. It was unfortunate that owing to the difference in the days the two radiators could not be compared directly. One certainly had the impression that the longer tubes gave increased cooling.
