TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M7. 12. 23. c.c. to CJ. c.c. to RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X1859 X9940 40/50.-- FOUR WHEEL BRAKES. PRESSURE DISTRIBUTING GEAR. We send herewith N. sch.1705. shewing the modified design with the sun wheel separated from the remainder of the gear to prevent sticking, and with a slightly altered ratio reducing the pull to the 'servo'. This ratio is not to be considered fixed as yet but will depend on the results of the tests which are now going on, but it is most probable that it will be found necessary to obtain the exact ratio by altering the lengths of the levers rather than by modifying the epicyclic gear. It will be noticed that we have altered the method of of carrying the inner end of the shaft and we now wish to make use of the bosses to which the stay tube for the gear lever fulcrum is fastened, shortening the stay by the thickness of the metal. We have also gone back to a ball joint on the 'servo' lever. The angle of this lever in the off position and the pull off spring will be shewn in a later drawing.
