To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X9060 E1/M1 8.1.23. "SEAGULL" VALVE ROCKER DETAILS, ETC. X.9060 We send herewith drawing No.LeC.1669 shewing the above. This drawing supercedes LeC.1658 & 1667 in respect to the details of the valve rocker shaft and brackets which have been slightly modified. These brackets are intended to be drop forged on their sides, and those with the long bosses should afterwards be lightened by machining as shewn on the drawing. The vertical securing studs have been brought closer to the shaft and this latter has to be milled away opposite to the studs. The stud is now exactly in the middle of the valve gear cover. The valve on this drawing has been shewn without any clearance with the rocker; this clearance will probably be from .004" to .006". We will send you drawing LeC.1671 giving you information with regard to the valve lift. The eccentric rocker bushes have an angular movement of 60° for the purpose of adjusting tappet clearance, and this, owing to the degree of eccentricity being .025" gives a vertical movement of .025" at the rocker centre, which results in an effective adjustment of .057 at the valve stem. We should be glad if you would return a blue print of this drawing at the earliest possible moment. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
