Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. Contd. 2. 1.10.32 In the event of your favouring us with your instructions to put one of these gears in hand to the proposals shewn on the drawing, we shall be glad if you will kindly furnish us with the dimensions asked for, viz. C,D,E, and F, as also the length of the inner tube which you require, measuring from the centre line of the rockershaft to the top of the tube. [Handwritten annotations near this paragraph: 80 ins, 3", 2.075, 2.400, 1750] It will be appreciated that the whole of the other particulars not stated on this drawing are in accordance with our standard general arrangement drawing of our "Q" Gear, GA.2425 a copy of which we left with you during our visit. There is one other point we would like to draw your attention to, and this is that apparently your 2 1/2" diameter outer tube will foul a part of your carburettor as shewn on the drawing, and on the small section on the left of our drawing, this section being through A.A. This matter would appear to require attention, and we shall be glad to hear from you in connection with the same. [Handwritten annotation: OK on 4g0 car] We further have pleasure in enclosing two blue print sheets, the one shewing the various helix angles, pitch and gear ratios for the "Q" Gear, and the other shewing the variation in pitch at various positions of the rocker shaft from the mid position. On the latter graph we have given two curves, one being our standard 1.3/32" pitch which was the pitch on the gear you drove on our representative's car, and the other 1.1/32". We have carefully considered the particular application of this gear to your car, and we are of the opinion that the 1.1/32" pitch would probably be the most satisfactory for you to test. We trust that this letter together with the enclosed drawings will be found to cover all the points required, and we shall look forward with great interest to hearing further from you on this subject very shortly. We should like to take this opportunity of thanking you for the courteous manner in which you received our representative during his visit, which we can assure you was greatly appreciated. Assuring you of our best attention at all times, We are, Yours faithfully, for ADAMANT ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED. [Signature: Marles] Director. [Handwritten at bottom: O.D. of Rh{R.
