Deletion of ammeter on chassis.

Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Met./KI.29.3.33, although it is agreed the ammeter may be the cause of misleading anybody not used to vibrator control, its absence would leave the car unsupplied with means of checking the functioning of the dynamo, and it would be necessary to arrange a switch and connections for plugging an ammeter into circuit for this purpose.

We doubt if anybody will become unduly alarmed unless the battery is down, and under these circumstances the ammeter would be normally showing a high charge reading.

Confidence will be further restored if the lamps are switched on and the ammeter fails to show a heavy discharge except the engine be idled or stopped.

Instructions can be promulgated for checking dynamo output either by observing discharge with all load on or by observing charge after partially discharging battery.

We believe that users will soon become accustomed to the peculiarities of vibrator control and we propose to continue with the ammeter as heretofore except for using an instrument having sufficient damping for the purpose in view.
