To BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8993 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG16.1.28. TESTING OF SPORTS NO.1 IN USA. X8830 With reference to BJ6/E12.1.28. It would interfere with the programme of the sports car on this side if we sent one of these cars to the U.S.A. in February. The only car which will be available will be the one for which Jarvis are making the body, and it is very doubtful whether this one will be ready by then. We consider the question of sending the car to USA, depends on whether we are going to produce parts for Springfield and be responsible for them giving satisfaction when used under American conditions. If it is definitely decided that we are to be responsible for the production of American pieces, then we would strongly recommend sending a car to America and we think Mr. Robotham would be the man to go with it. We do not think, however, it is worth while sending a Sports car, because the Sports car has relatively very few new features on it. The car we ought to send, of course, is EAC.10. Our view is that if a car is sent to America it should be purchased by the American Co. and left out there as a model. They should pay for the expenses and running of the car, and contribute towards Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s expenses. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
