- 2 - With regard to the clutch, this has to be tried to be believed. I have been on no long journey but have pottered about London using the clutch under heavy traffic circumstances, and it is of course better than anything I have tried on any Phantom III. I even put it to the searching test of reversing up a very steep hill, and it was entirely sweet in its action. I understand that this clutch has also done 15,000 miles; therefore I have no hesitation in saying that you have apparently successfully overcome what was certain the worst feature on Phantom III chassis, namely, jaggering clutches. Concerning the gearbox, I am afraid that as I did not indulge in any high speeds, I was not able to form any opinion of its advantages, although it is obvious that it will improve petrol consumption on long journeys and lessen the high speed wear of the engine bearings.
