FRAME. You will remember that I had decided that Mr. Everndon under Mr. Day should make a new drawing of this, increasing its depth slightly all the way, say 1" in the centre, arranging for some of the cross members to be larger in diameter. In all cases add no more weight than is necessary, but increasing both the vertical and torsional stiffness.
Regarding the 2" additional length this is a matter to be decided because it is a great pity to add this to the wheelbase and length of all the cars, together with the additional weight and stresses both longitudinal and torsional that naturally follow. So that after making the very best of the length as at present, including anything that can be done to the pedals, especially of 'B' position, I have recommended using every economy in construction, both in lightness and arrangement so as to get the necessary accommodation required by certain coachbuilders.
