Re BATTERIES, & DYNAMOS FOR 40/50 CHASSIS X.4211

We wish to bring before you urgently the anxiety we feel with regard to the charging characteristic and cutting in speed of our present standard Lucas dynamo, also the capacity of our accumulators, both the present standard of 55 amp. hrs. and the proposed new standard for the internal position of the battery of 44 amp. hrs. We have always felt some doubt whether this dynamo would really meet the requirements of London and you will remember that this matter was discussed at a Conference in London some months ago. It was suggested at that time that the difficulty might be got over bynhharging the batteries at night but in the opinion of Sales there were many cases in which this could not be undertaken for one reason or another. London is vey insistent that our standard equipment does not give satisfaction in this respect and they raise the matter even more strongly now that we propose to reduce the battery Capacity by 20%
