-2- Contd. The negatives were in fair condition but showed signs of shrinkage and consolidation. Sediment about 3/8" deep. The R.R.11 positives were in excellent condition with no signs of wear. The negatives were in poor condition showing slight shrinkage. Wood separators in very good condition, strong and pliable. Sediment about 1/16" deep. The merits of the two cells are not strictly comparable by reason of the advantage gained by the larger dimensions of the R.R.11, but I think the latter has indubitably the better positives. Our R.R.11 negatives are slightly inferior to those in the Accu-Slem although the latter are not in the good condition I expected to find them, having regard to the condition of the negatives examined from the Accu-Slem cell sent us by Rolls Royce in 1923 which have done 23,000 miles on the school car. There is no doubt whatever that our new negatives which will shortly be incorporated in our R.R. batteries will be very much superior to the negatives in the Accu-Slem". You asked us at the time to give an account of our tests and the above will probably give you the information you desire. Yours faithfully, PETO & RADFORD. (sgd) G.R.N.Minchin. | ||
