X6135 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/AD. April 26th, 1932. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons,Ltd. Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. Dorer. Dear Sirs, With regard to the failure we experienced last week of a Smith thermometer due to the needle sticking, we understand that this was due to the dial working loose. We have also had another dial on a petrol gauge work loose. Will you kindly look into the question of fixing these dials more securely in position, and we should be glad if you will kindly submit experimental samples for our approval as soon as possible. In checking over the first batch of six thermometers we found one with a discrepancy of 10° from standard. We were rather surprised to discover this as we understood from Mr. Haviland that careful tests were made on all thermometers before despatch. Perhaps you will kindly arrange to confirm this. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
