Tests on the heat transfer to oil and the mechanical efficiency of a 20/25 Tank Engine.

We have carried out further tests on the heat to the oil on this engine. We measured the rate of rise of the water in the oil cooler. With about 2 gallons in circulation the oil temperature ceased to rise when a figure of 87°C had been reached. The heat to the oil was 84 lbs °C per minute or 115 BTU/min, at this temperature.
