HJH/V 18.11.24 ROAD TEST. 20 H.P. CHASSIS CHASSIS G.A.61. THIS IS THE FIRST 20 H.P. CHASSIS TO BE PUT ON THE ROAD, AND IT WAS NOT THOUGHT ADVISABLE TO CARRY OUT ANY SPECIAL TESTS ON THIS CHASSIS. A FEW POINTS WERE NOTICED HOWEVER AND THESE WERE IN THE NATURE OF MINOR DIFFICULTIES WHICH WERE ATTENDED TO DURING THE COURSE OF THE TEST. THE SPEEDOMETER GEAR WAS NOISY BUT THIS WAS ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE FACT THAT NO FELT WASHER WAS FITTED. CLUTCH. THE CLUTCH OPERATION IS RATHER HARD. THIS IS PROBABLY DUE TO THE WEAK TOGGLE LEVER SPRINGS. GEARING. FOURTH SPEED IS QUITE SILENT AND THE GEARS ARE EASY TO CHANGE. THERE IS NO UNUSUAL HUM FROM THE GEAR BOX WHEN IDLING. THE THIRD SPEED GEARS WERE A LITTLE NOISY, BUT IT WAS NOTICED THAT THEY BEDDED THEMSELVES IN DURING THE COURSE OF THE TEST, AND THE NOISE DISAPPEARED TO A GREAT EXTENT. EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.
