Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. Blackith.

We thank you for your letter of the 5th inst. and very much appreciate the tone of the discussion we had with your Mr. Blackith on Wednesday last.

It appears to us, however, that we are being allowed to use something which no one can prevent us from using if we so desire and we feel that the true perspective in which to view this matter is that we should benefit to some small extent for the use of the patent in the way Rolls Royce will benefit if you agree to take it up under licence.

We quite appreciate that we did not bother to take out a patent but we cannot see that this will make any material change in the situation.

We suggest that if you intend coming to some sort of arrangement with Rolls Royce that we should participate in the benefits from this arrangement on an agreed basis between ourselves and Rolls Royce; you will appreciate that this arrangement need not make any difference to the amount of royalty paid by you.

At the moment, however, unless you think otherwise, we see no reason why the matter should be disturbed as the patent can of course be allowed to go through.

Trusting this point of view is quite clear and acceptable to you,

Yours faithfully,

(Signed) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Taylor,
Director.
