We find that some of the present type Silent Dunlop tyres develop extremely noisy after a few thousand miles running. This was very noticeable on Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s car.

We took the matter up with Dunlops and they agreed that these particular tyres were bad, and they say it is due to what they call "toeing and heeling."

We had a call from one of their technical experts the other day and he said that they have recently received a communication from you regarding a new type of tyre - with what they call the Canadian tread, and you expressed satisfaction with these and asked for other sizes.
They said that they were at once putting dies in hand, and I understood would be standardising this type of tread instead of the present Silent type.

We shall be glad if you will please let us know just what your views are, and how the matter now stands between you and Dunlops.

Incidentally, they mention that this "toeing and heeling" although not actually caused by, is aggravated by the tyres being run soft. They also say it takes place more frequently on tyres used on the Continent, although I could not quite follow why this should be so.
