Dixon's Riley Wins the T.T.
It is in Northern Ireland and its name is Belfast.
Last Saturday dawned with the hooting of six special steamers arousing such of the excited population of Belfast as were not already up and doing. Their human freight of spectators came to pack still more the crowded town, from which, under a cloudless sky, the sunshine tempered by a cool autumn breeze, the exodus towards the Ards Circuit was beginning. The race was to begin at 11 a.m., but by 8 a.m. special police had their hands full directing the stream of traffic towards the course, the nearest point of which, the Dundonald hairpin, lay about three miles from the centre of the town.

All Available Vehicles
Old-fashioned jaunting cars, bicycles, horses, taxis, private cars, every form of conveyance transported the crowds. The trams which actually ran as far as Dundonald were so packed that people hung on round the rails and stood on the fenders. So round the course every coign of vantage was soon occupied, and a roaring trade went on, in letting out private stands and enclosures.
At the grandstand and pits a dense throng swarmed round the thirty-five racing cars, lined up outside their pits, guarded by patient mechanics, while drivers moved restlessly about, fingering racing kit, polishing goggles, nervously smoking cigarettes and throwing them away half-finished. Here and there a bonnet was lifted for last-minute adjustments, while serious-faced team chiefs instructed their personnel and set their equipment in order
