Dunlop Wire Wheels with Goodyear Rim
with removable flange for straight-side tyre.

I confirm mine Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}4/NJ1.1.21.

This morning we are in receipt of a letter from the Dunlop Rim & Wheel Co.Ltd. undertaking to despatch to us and to Springfield a total of 35 sets per week of these wheels.

Appended to their note are the following remarks:-

"A new factor in the situation is our uneasiness over "a reported breakage of one of these imported American "Rims in the hands of one of your Coachbuilders in London. "We telephoned you today to obtain, if possible, the facts "of the case, but apparently the information had not yet "reached you.

"Mr. Smith will explain to you the steps the writer "took today to secure from the mass of rims which we have "imported from America, at least sufficient to ensure "the above output until we are turning out rims on our "own plant, a week or two hence.

"The design of our own rim, which was arrived at in "consultation with your Technical Production Engineer, "will get over the weakness of the American product.

"The matter was referred to in your letter By5/F15720 "of 15th July last. Meantime, would you kindly give us "particulars of the trouble which has arisen in London, "and at the same time let us know whether any weakness "developed in the various rims which you have had under "test.

"The writer is dealing with the matter again tomorrow "(Saturday) and Monday, and will keep in close touch with "you."

Up to the present I have not received any news from Sales and although I have made enquiries here, I have been unable to find evidence of any news whatever having been received. Naturally the Dunlop people are anxious to know what our view of the matter is.

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}
