BUTTERFLY THROTTLE CLOSING SPRINGS. We require a spring to close the butterfly throttle to go with E's new scheme. We are taking as a basis the 20 HP. throttle closing spring. We should like you to get out a spring which exerts a torque on the throttle spindle in the closed position, equivalent to that on the 20 HP. per sq.in. of butterfly throttle. By this we mean that we require the EAC. spring to exert a bigger torque than that of the 20 HP., the ratio of the torques to be proportional to the throttle area. We should like the spring to be of the lowest possible rating consistent with the initial set-up required and the space available. When you have evolved this spring, we should like the torque curve which it occasions on the Camshaft throughout the full 40° governor control opening. We can then instruct the correct control spring. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
