R.R. 493a (50 H) (D.D. 31, 12-6-25) J.H.L. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. -4- Expl. No. REF WH1/Crnl.9.25. steady for some time, after which at low speeds pressure again drops. Battery ignition. We have had no trouble with battery ignition, and the contact points are in good condition. Bonnet and fittings. Bonnet remains in good condition. The N.S. bonnet strip has scracked across close to base of radiator, also at centre of strip. The metal appears to be too thin to withstand the continual strain of bonnet and distortion. O.S. bonnet strip is cracked where attached to valances of front wing. Engine guards. These have not been altered since our last report. We recommend that a felt pad should be rivetted on to side of guards nearest engine case. Gearbox undershield. This we consider satisfactory in protecting gearbox except in very severe wet weather, when water and dirt are forced up between engine case and undershield. A felt pad fitted round this joint would be considerably beneficial in excluding the water and dirt under these conditions. Radiator to L.O.P. E.53380. Radiator is slightly damaged owing to bonnet chattering lengthways, which has caused slight indentations where bonnet comes into contact with the radiator. Support to bonnet on top of radiator has broken off. Supporting rod to top of radiator broke at dashboard end. Radiator shutters and controls to L.O.P. E.53990. These have worked satisfactorily and are free from rattles. Dashboard & brkts. 'D' type. F.52857 otherwise to L.O.P.F.53341. Slight indentations have occurred where bonnet has chattered against dashboard. Brackets and bolts have remained tight. Steering column and box. New stiffener support tube to Drgs. F.53250/1/2/3/4. otherwise to L.O.P. 50941. contd: | ||
