R.R. 493A (50 H) (D.D. 31, 12-6-25) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. -3- Expl. No. REF: GML1/Cml.9.25. These we found to be the cause of the washer blowing out, the tightness of the studs at the base not allowing the pipe to make a perfect joint. Controls. These have functioned O.K. Wear has taken place in tubes mounted on dashboard. Controls in steering column are inclined to rattle. Engine suspension. Front and rear suspensions are still in good condition. This tube for starting handle on front suspension, situated between first and second cross members - the two bolts, as previously reported coming loose, have again become loose after being tightened up, during the continuation of test. Carb. and fittings to L.O.P: E.53300. Fittings are O.K. After approx. 5,000 miles, filter was taken out and examined. This was found to be practically clean, one small piece of fluff only being found on the gauze. The drain nut under the gauze was found to be full of sand. Carburetter has functioned O.K. during continuation of test. Fan bracket, fan and fan belt. These are still in good condition. Fan belt has been tightened up three turns of adjustment screw during continuation of test. No trouble has been experienced whatsoever. Mag. and drive to LeC.2088. The drive is quite satisfactory. Magneto was put into operation on one occasion and was misfiring, due to dirty contact points. Dynamo. Dynamo ceased to function once or twice. No definite cause has been obtainable. The control brush has been attended to, as instructed, and electrical cutout points examined, which were found to be in good condition. Failures have been chiefly at beginning of morning's run, the dynamo starting to function after short time on road, and continuing to function O.K. during rest of run. Oil pump. New oil pump and casing to LeC.2063. Oil pump has continued to work satisfactorily. Oil relief valve enclosed in same seems to be too sensitive, oil pressure varies considerably. Examination of valve does not shew any cause for this. After cleaning valve, pressure remains contd:- | ||
