To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1020 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}16/MJ.7.8.36. BIG END BEARINGS ON PHANTOM 111's. The position with regard to these bearings is somewhat alarming. You will have observed from the strip of 32-EX. after only covering 8,000 miles that the big end bearings are more or less scrap. From our tests already carried out we know that the Hall's metal big end is at least four times as good as the White Metal. We are therefore particularly anxious to push on with the tests of Phantom 111 big end bearings in Hall's metal bearing alloy and would appreciate your co-operation.
