To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} x6113. E.5/HP.4.4.33. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} re Battery Ignition Condensers. Referring to our conversation on Thursday last with Mr Gamblen of the Telegraph Condenser Co. with regard to ignition condensers, I have read the ensuing letter and paper and it appears to contain information of great value for increasing the reliability of condensers. Our battery ignition at the present time is extremely reliable, but any development tending towards still greater reliability will be well worth following up, and based on the information given in the paper on ionization we should like to know how the construction of our condenser should be modified as regards the connection and arrangement of the tin foil to establish the improved conditions for avoiding ionization. We assume that youwill test the sample condensers submitted against samples of the type we are already using, having regard to the particular object aimed at in the modified construction. We return herewith Mr Gamblen's letter of the 1st April and paper on ionization. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
