Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KT Head Offices, Works and Design Dept.: Our Ref. FGM/ACS/CB. DALLOW ROAD, LUTON. 26th. June, 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Robotham. We are duly in receipt of your favor of the 23rd instant, reference as above, and your instructions regarding the Steering you are sending back will be carried out as soon as the gear is to hand. As regards the second paragraph of your letter, we do not quite understand how the back plate should have got bent, and can only suggest that probably the drop arm has been hammered on instead of being pulled on by the nut. As you can appreciate, there is very little thrust on this back plate when the gear is in operation on the car. We will, however, put a thicker back plate on the gear so as to add to the factor of safety in this direction. As regards the gear for the Bentley, this, as we believe you have already been advised, was sent off by passenger train on Saturday last. The shorter drop arm has come to hand, and both these are being sent off today. We shall be very interested to hear from you when you have had an opportunity of fitting this smaller gear on the Bentley and of trying it out on the road. Assuring you of our best attention at all times, We are, Yours faithfully, for ADAMANT ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED Director. | ||
