X4094 Ha/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 5/KT. June 23rd 1933. The Adamant Engineering Co Ltd., Dallow Road, Luton. For the attention of Commdr. Matravers. Dear Sirs, We are sending you the 1.3/32" pitch steering which we have now run about 4000 miles, and should like you to fit it with a 1.1/32" pitch ratio which will make it identical to the other steering which you have supplied. At the same time will you please fit the tempered hemispheres, and we suggest that in order to get good efficiencies you lap these in. One trouble we experienced when dismantling the other steering was a bent back plate. This we are returning to you with the steering. The main trouble experienced with this bent plate was that the box would not hold oil. With reference to your letter of the 22nd inst. we are sorry that the drop arm has not yet reached you. We shall, of course, be able to fit the steering up with the long drop arm. In the meantime we are getting a shortened one off immediately. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
