y1155 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} - from Sft{Mr Swift}/AEM. Sft{Mr Swift}/AEM.1/EMG.28.10.36. Re. FABROIL TIMING GEARS. We fitted 10 Bentley Chassis (3½ Litre) with a combination of Fabroil and Steel gears in December 1935. These consisted of cam wheel and timing pinion (Fabroil) and crank pinion, idler wheel, and dynamo pinion (Steel). These were put on test and no trouble was experienced and the result was looked upon as satisfactory. As they have now been in customers' hands for several months and no complaints have been made we take it we can say they are standing up in service. The reason the experiments have not been proceeded with is due to the fact that a new cam balancing bracket was put on production which did not allow the Fabroil cam wheel to line up with the other gears. If these Fabroil gears were adopted on production it would mean a considerable saving in bonus hours. Perhaps you will let us have your views. Sft{Mr Swift}/AEM. [Illegible signature] | ||
