CAMSHAFT—FRONT END DRIVE—VALVES

CAMSHAFT – Drop-forged carbon steel, cams integral, journals and cams case-hardened and ground. Five replaceable steel-backed babbitt-lined bearings. Thrust taken on thrust plate at front end of camshaft.

FRONT END DRIVE – Silent chain, 1" (25.4 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}) wide, crankshaft to camshaft. No adjustment. Lubrication from front camshaft bearing. Steel crankshaft sprocket and cast-iron camshaft sprocket are 1-1/32" (26.19 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}) wide.

VALVES – Inlet valve, one-piece chrome nickel steel. Exhaust valve, one-piece silichrome #1 steel with stems copper-plated. All valves operated in removable cast-iron guides and are actuated by overhead babbitt-lined rocker arms, hollow push rods and hardened roller type lifters. The valve lifter brackets are removable in sets of four. Double helical valve springs are used.

FUEL SYSTEM

CARBURETOR – Marvel, Model BB-1 Dual Downdraft Carburetor with automatic accelerating pump. Thermostatic heat control located on exhaust manifold center section. Automatic choke control. Thermostatic cold idle control. High altitude jets will be available.

INTAKE MANIFOLD – Separate unit, cast-iron, four-port type; dual construction, one-half feeding four center cylinders and the other half feeding two cylinders at each end.

INTAKE SILENCER – AC, Combination Intake Silencer, Air Cleaner and Flame Arrester connected directly to carburetor. Air Cleaner is oil-soaked copper mesh type.

FUEL SUPPLY – AC Fuel Pump, with gas strainer integral with fuel pump. Located on right side of engine at rear.

FUEL TANK – Mounted at rear between frame side rails and under rear cross members. Body rear panel has a flare at the bottom which completely conceals the fuel tank. Capacity 16 gals. (60.56 lts.).

FUEL INDICATOR – AC Electrical Type gauge, mounted on instrument panel, calibrated in fractions.

EXHAUST SYSTEM

MANIFOLD – Cast-iron, one-piece type. Exhaust outlet is in the center, with a thermostatically controlled heat valve integral with the center section of
