R.R. 235A (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/156/13. To Mr. [text struck through] from En. To Mr. [text struck through] from En. To Mr. [text struck through] from En. X3461-B Copy to Mr. Copy to Ck.{Mr Clark} Copy to Ey. Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}3/W81119. RE REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS. X.3461.B I have put to Mr. Johnson for decision Mr. Royce's proposal that the rear shock absorbers should be treated as a special case and not necessarily await the completion of 10,000 mile test etc. for regular standardisation. CJ. writes that " our policy should be to proceed with production but not to fit to cars for delivery until the Technical Dept. are able to report that they have been subjected to a bumping test which is at least equivalent to 10,000 miles on the road, and has proved to be satisfactory;" and that "this test must apply to the latest design", i.e. that which it is proposed should be put into production, and " no modification should be made in that design without a fresh test and a fresh standardisation sheet." Will Mr. Day therefore please pass through for production the latest designs of rear shock absorbers, in order that these parts may be produced for fitting to delivery chasses as soon as the necessary tests have been completed.
