PHANTOM BONNET MODIFICATIONS PROPOSED FOR G.2B.
-------------------------------------------
Referring to R6/M7.5.28. and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/CM.7.5.28. which deals with the same subject, the matter has been fully discussed between Wcr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and we are holding the material for the parts affected for G2B. These we estimate can be held for two months, but at the end of that time definite instructions must be available to enable us to get going without further delay.

In order to arrive at a positive settlement we are accepting Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s suggestion to fit the modifications to a chassis to enable Sales in their turn to make arrangements with Barkers or Hoopers as suggested in Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/CM.7.5.28. to rebuild the scuttle of an existing body and so provide a complete car carrying the modifications at the earliest possible date.

This morning we received N.Sch.2595 showing proposed modifications. The drawing, however, overlooks certain points which have been standardised either before or with and at the commencement of G.2B viz :-

1/- Integral radiator and shutter scheme.
This commences with F.2B.

2/- Cast dash. This is introduced on G.2B. for which also the proposed modifications are suggested.

3/- At G.2B. although the height of the radiator has not been increased above the frame a deeper matrix was called for due to the modified suspension, the increased depth being .800".

We are introducing all these points on the scheme, and unless notified otherwise shall instruct immediately sketches are ready to Experimental Department.

We propose to produce the parts suitable for a 'D' type steering, as with this steering the view of the road will have the maximum restriction for existing steering columns.

We would like to point out that on the proposed 'E' steering, where the seating is approximately 4" lower than 'D' the restriction of road view will be considerably increased.

In the meantime Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will circulate a standardisation sheet covering the proposed modifications.
