Re: Phantom Bonnet modification proposed for G.Z.B.

I have received copy of BY12/G10.5.28.

In suggesting that a chassis should be brought through with the alterations in regard to height as per N.Sch. 2595, we particularly had in mind that the modifications would be made on a present production type chassis and not on a chassis embodying all the G.Z.B. modifications as regards pedals, columns, etc., this, because we dare not at this date disclose the latter information to any coachbuilder, but the other modification as per N.Sch. 2595 is really quite an ordinary one we might be doing almost any day for a customer, and therefore there is no harm in letting a firm like Barker's alter a scuttle of an existing body so that we can see the complete effect, especially seeing that it is their suggestion and they were largely responsible for the scheme having been got out.

We are aware that by so doing we shall not obtain a correct and true idea of what complete car G.Z.B. series will look like, but we were prepared to forego this for the reasons mentioned above.

We have already arranged with Barker's for the scuttle of an existing body built for a 'D' chassis, to be altered to meet the particulars of the scheme referred to and what we now want, is a chassis brought through as quickly as possible to conform to those particulars.

In view of the fact that time is of importance from the point of view of G.Z.B. material, we suggest that this alteration might be made to Chassis No. 55.AL. If this number is not convenient for any reason, will you please suggest another after consultation with Sn.{Mr Sanderson}

The only real reason for having this advance chassis, is because BJ. and the Sales Conference were not prepared to definitely accept the higher radiator and dashboard as standard
