48770 Mr Shelton. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY9/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 28. 1. 25. ---------------------- E.A.C. ENGINE. ------------- Filter in Carburetter. -------------------- It is necessary to have a good fit on the diameters of the above part to prevent petrol passing through a wide diametrical clearance to the jet without being filtered when passing through the gauze. As suggested, the best way to do this would be to expand the brass pressing at the top slightly so as to make it a definitely tight fit. The filter gauze would be stopped off short lower down. Tappets. -------- I wish to confirm that it is necessary to reduce the limits on the various points on the tappet itself as discussed with you verbally, notably the clearance between the roller and the tappet, and to modify the dimensions of the pressings which lock the tappets, so that in future they will always be a good fit. By making the tappets as a pressing .375 plus or minus 2, which represents what the parts are at the moment, we shall always have a reasonable job. In regard to the cork washers on the Carburetter System, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} wishes to have all of the agglomerated cork washers changed to fibre. He is, however, trying at the moment a thin fibre on top of the cork, with the object of taking wear off the nut on the fibre. Before definitely changing over, see Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in the course of a few days as to whether he prefers to make the change to all fibre or merely add a thin fibre washer on top of the cork. Petrol Pipe to Starting Carburetter. ------------------------------------ This should be carried behind the Induction and Water Pipes and not as at present. By so doing the appearance of the engine will be improved. Oil Pump Pipe to Cylinder Head. ------------------------------ This should go straight down and make a joint below the crankcase instead of passing across the front of the | ||
