c. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} c. EFC. C X 2656 RECEIVED SEP 23 EYL-P22920. Messrs. Morgan Crucible Company Ltd., Battersea Works, Church Rd, LONDON. S.W.11. September 22/20. Wednesday. Dear Sirs., X.2656 COMMUTATOR & BRUSHES. RE MATERIAL FROM WHICH BRUSHES ARE PRODUCED FOR ORDER NUMBER 3553. Referring to your favor of the 20th inst., we are rather alarmed to note that the material from which the new brushes to the above order will be produced is so much weaker that it will necessitate in your view a reduction in diameter of the flexible cables, we would be obliged if you would send a representative up to discuss the matter with our Technical Department. In the meantime, in view of the difficulty, rather than change the diameter of the flexibles, we would prefer that you would carry on with 1000 brushes in the original material. You will, of course, quite understand our attitude in hearing from you that the material is weak, as the last thing we desire is to go from a better to a worse material; the only reason we were making the change being, that as far as we knew the material was harder and therefore more likely to give better service, but that it was actually materially weaker had not occurred to us. Yours faithfully., RWB TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEER FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
